MystiFaces of Morphing Landscapes

MystiFaces of Morphing Landscapes is an interactive visual installation that intricately melds the essence of continuous transformation inherent in traditional Chinese landscapes with modern programming artistry. As a pivotal piece in the “Perceiving All Beings” series, this work celebrates the perpetual dance of change that defines both nature and imagination.

Utilizing a sophisticated algorithm, the installation generates endless variations of scenic landscapes reminiscent of classical Chinese shanshui (mountain-water) paintings. Amidst these evolving vistas, the algorithm intricately identifies and manifests faces of countless animals and mythical creatures, each unique and never to reappear. The faces, too, are in a state of constant flux, symbolizing the boundless variability and interconnectedness of all beings.

The interaction extends to the audience, as the installation is capable of sensing movements and light color variations in its environment. When different viewers appear before the installation, their presence is translated into subtle yet perceptible real-time changes in the display. The data from the viewers' interactions brings a new layer of dynamism, making each experience of MystiFaces of Morphing Landscapes a unique journey through the amalgam of traditional aesthetics and contemporary technology.

The interactive nature of MystiFaces of Morphing Landscapes invites viewers into a meditative exploration, encouraging a deeper reflection on the impermanent, ever-changing essence of reality. Through the lens of technology, this artwork challenges the traditional boundaries between the natural and the artificial, offering a modern reinterpretation of ancient aesthetics and philosophical contemplations.

Sattva Darshana 見眾生

The 'Sattva Darshana' series—named after the Sanskrit term meaning 'seeing the essence of beings'—explores the myriad forms of life that I encounter in my global travels. Ever since I can remember, I've been captivated by the fleeting images of life that manifest in seemingly lifeless objects. These transient forms often vanish as quickly as they appear, eluding capture. This series serves as a means to immortalize these elusive moments. Utilizing real-world scans and AI algorithms, I transform these into intricate three-dimensional models and point clouds. These are then artistically refined to become the digital artworks of the series, each representing a unique moment that I have encountered. They appear on cliff edges, in barren woodlands, and in places least expected, revealing the ubiquity and resilience of life itself.
